As the Festival grows, we are eager to grow our volunteer member base… to that end, we met in January 2011 and deliberated over what that might mean… and we came up with the following:

1.  We need people on the Velofest Edmonton League and Organization Board – this is intended to be a policy board, so if you want to provide direction to the premiere cycling festival in Edmonton, let us know!

2.  We need people to assist with Bikeology: Festival organization. This incorporates random acts of bikey-ness during the month of June, providing information at a table on the Bikeology: Festival Day, or you could help us honour our commitment to be car-free this year, and haul a trailer for us to one of our events.  OR you could help coordinate events for us… This is pretty exciting, so if you want to step up and take charge, let us know!

Volunteer opportunities include: coordinating Mockails on the Bridge, or the ride-in outdoor movie,  promotions and publicity, etc.   We also need a ton of volunteers to help with Bikeology Festival on June 18. There are a myriad of jobs ranging from set up and tear down to help the children’s entertainer, or the pedal-powered smoothie machine, etc. etc. etc.

Other options for events include a World Naked Bike Day ride, a parking meter party, a midnight bike ride, a rousing game of bike polo, something you already have planned and want to include in our bikey calendar… opportunity abounds…
